It’s that time of year again! Field Day will be held on Thursday, June 2, with a rain date of Monday, June 6. We are looking for parent volunteers to run the various stations.
For those of you who have never experienced Field Day, this is how it works: Grades one through four parent volunteers are assigned to work a station. Each station is a different relay activity for the kids. The teachers escort their classes to the various stations throughout the day. Each class visits ALL the stations at some point in the day. Also, when you have a break or your shift is over, you are welcome to go and visit with your child(ren). This is the perfect opportunity for moms and dads to come and spend a fun day with their child and their schoolmates.
Kindergarten field day is a little bit different. They have their own set of stations and don’t rotate on a schedule like the older kids. Also, kindergarten parents travel with their child’s class. Kindergarten parents are assigned to run a station as well as help at other stations if needed.
We need volunteers who can stay for the full day (9:20 – 2:15) or a half-day shift either in the morning (9:20 -12:15) or the afternoon (12:00 – 2:15). We are also in great need of volunteers for our set-up and clean-up crews. The set-up crew comes in from 7:15– 8:30 a.m. and makes sure everything is ready to go by the time school starts. The clean-up brings the equipment back to the gym following Field Day.
Information packets with a schedule and explanation of the stations will be sent out sometime in May to all volunteers. Please sign up by May 20. Thank you!
